Macy Krzyznieski assists WWII veteran on Rocky Mountain Honor Flight

Avitus Group was represented by Macy Krzyznieski on the Rocky Mountain Honor Flight this year. This was her second year serving as a guardian for the program, which organizes groups to take WWII and Korean veterans to see their war memorials in Washington, DC. Each guardian is paired with a veteran and spends the weekend assisting them during travel and throughout the visit.

The program focuses on making the event a special weekend for the veterans, but also impacts the volunteers as well. One of the highlights for Krzyznieski during both years she participated was seeing the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington Natio

al Cemetery. Honor Flight members stood for the changing of the guard and she was able to hear them drag their heels on the concrete in a showing of respect for the men and women who defended US freedom before them.

“Traveling as a guardian with the Rocky Mountain Honor Flight has forever changed the way I view our armed forces, and the sacrifices they made to defend our freedom,” says Krzyznieski. “By listening to and walking alongside these heroes for a weekend, I feel that I am able to share tales of their incredible service and grow appreciation for them within Avitus Group and within our greater Aurora community as well.”

Avitus Group was proud to be a sponsor for the event this year as well as for previous years. The company has also supported other Honor Flight groups across the country.
