I have a great passion for all things payroll, from learning the various laws to learning new software!
I am a firm believer that volunteerism is critical to personal well being, and it has a solid, positive impact on our communities. Volunteerism offers an opportunity to develop relationships and share the blessings I have been given. I try to pick several varied opportunities each year for my time and resources. Each year I choose events or causes in four areas: a children’s event or cause, a homeless event or cause, a disease event or cause and a domestic violence event or cause. My family and I sit together and brainstorm after Thanksgiving dinner and figure out how to proceed for the next year. Anything involving children is a passion for me. I loved volunteering as a child advocate for CASA and being a foster parent. As a domestic violence survivor, I believe I am an inspiration to other domestic violence survivors.
We should never stop our insatiable thirst for learning new things and encountering alternative beliefs, cultures, values, et cetera. We should embrace any opportunity we have to learn from others. The growth that Avitus Payroll has seen in the last year and the growth expected in the future is so exciting to me. I am happy to be on the ground floor of this part of our business!!
On the Horizon
I am soon going to begin studying for my Certified Payroll Professional certification to help me keep up with the ever changing payroll laws. I am continuing to mentor on resume writing and how to present a professional application.
A new adventure for me this year is jumping into the frigid Alaskan waters of Resurrection Bay, the Gateway to the Pacific Ocean, to help support The American Cancer Society. This fundraiser is known as the Seward Polar Bear Jump.
