I love helping people think ahead and plan for retirement. I love what I do because I know too many older people who are in dire straits because they did not save for retirement and relied on Social Security. Now that they’re in their “Golden Years”, they are finding that it’s more like” Bronze Years” or even “Mud Years.” If I can convince even one young person to start contributing early, it’s worth it!
By being a volunteer, you can make the world a better place. You can start with one volunteer project and one person and then go onto another and another. Soon, other volunteers are following your lead and you have a volunteer network. By creating volunteer networks, you can make the world a better place for more people, exponentially. It doesn’t take much to make someone smile, and smiles are contagious.
I believe that everyone needs to grow. To grow, you need to continually learn new things, both in your skillset and in your personal life. There are many courses and certifications on retirement plans. Right now, I am in the middle of Qualified 401(k) Administrator (QKA) Credentialing through the American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries (ASPPA), which is a part of the American Retirement Association (ARA). I want to complete this credentialing and go on to other credentials through the ASPPA or other pension organizations.
On the Horizon
I welcome the opportunity to mentor others. I’m passionate about marriage mentoring at my church. I also mentor young women in their spiritual walk, and my husband and I teach financial management classes.
