Avitus Group Ambassador Shanice Dawson is hosting a food drive for Billings Senior High School’s food pantry March 4th-29th, 2019. Business and community members are invited to drop off donations during regular business hours (8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.) at Avitus Group’s office in Downtown Billings, Montana (8th floor of the Wells Fargo building on 27th street).
Please keep in mind that most of the kids that utilize the pantry do not have access to utensils and cooking equipment as some are homeless and some kids bring food home for their entire families. More information about the program can be found here.
Thank you for helping us support the community! Avitus Group supports education in our local communities.
Billings Senior High Pantry Mission Statement
The Billings Senior High food pantry is a part of the school’s outreach program which seeks to create ahunger-free community by providing our youth with nutritious food options that are quick, easy and practical for teens on the go. Many of our students are responsible for preparing their own dinners, sometimes eating quickly after school before rushing to an after-school job. Keeping this in mind, pantry organizers strive to make it easy for students to maintain a properly balanced diet.
In addition to food items, the pantry supplies students with basic necessities including clothing, hygiene products and school supplies. Providing these items helps to ensure that students are able to fully participate in school activities and reach their full potential. The financial relief that these services provide can also be a factor in helping to prevent homelessness.
All Senior High students are welcome to access the food pantry. Most students who use this service choose to do so on a walk-in basis, which allows them to remain anonymous, and affords them a certain level of privacy and dignity that might not otherwise be possible in a school environment.
