On a day following the nation’s deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, October 2, 2016, Avitus Group and the Growth Company, an Avitus Group company, safety consultants presented active shooter training to a packed room at the Dena’ina Civic and Convention Center in Anchorage during the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce’s Make it Monday Forum.
Senior Safety Consultants Scott Stender, Bill Kane and Rick Birdsall shared top preparation and survival tips for active shooter situations. Most active shooter situations start and finish within two minutes, so having a mental emergency plan in place is critical. KTUU news, NBC in Anchorage, interviewed Avitus Group’s safety expert Scott Stender on the importance of active shooter training for all companies. This, as Avitus Group calls on employers worldwide to unite against workplace violence.
Avitus Group and the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce also launched a social media campaign centered on #SharetoSaveLives and encouraged attendees to share the number one tip they learned during the training on social media. Many attendees also wrote a message of thought and prayer to the victims and their families in Las Vegas.
