Unemployment Provisions of the CARES Act

The U.S. Department of Labor, or DOL, has issued information designed to help employers and employees navigate the unemployment provisions of the CARES Act.  Those programs include the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA), the Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation (PUC), and the Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC) program.

Each of these programs, according to this legal alert from Fisher Phillips, are designed to provide benefits to as many affected employees as possible under the CARES Act. Most provide a weekly benefit plus an additional stipend per week through July of this year, funded by the federal government.

Read the alert to learn about each of these pandemic unemployment programs and what they can mean to you and your employees.
