A quick and easy checklist to help you make sure your new employees are set up for success.
A seamless and positive onboarding process is important for employee retention and long-term success. Creating a systematic approach to onboarding will help a new employee understand what's expected and give them the confidence and support they need to be good at their role. Onboarding can be intensive, so we've broken it down into a simple checklist.
Obtain a signed Job Acceptance Document from the employee, confirm a start date, and send the new hire a welcome letter or email.
Collect all the necessary documents including tax forms, employment contracts, training materials, and benefits documents.
Make sure you have the tools of the trade ready for them, like a work computer, phone or company vehicle.
Set up a workspace, provide necessary office supplies, account logins, and show them how to use the time clock.
Don’t forget to introduce a new hire to the people they’ll be working with, show them around the office, or send out an email announcement welcoming them.
Complete any remaining new hire paperwork, assign them a mentor or supervisor, establish a cadence for performance reviews and give them an opportunity to ask questions.
